UCS, Longtime Nuclear Critic, Cites Climate In Call To Save At-Risk Plants

An environmental group that has long been critical of nuclear power plants' safety record is now urging federal and state policymakers to prevent economically distressed plants from retiring, arguing that the plants' zero-carbon energy is critical in the broader effort to address climate change because replacement power could come from fossil fuels.
