McCarthy Warns EPA Could Issue Stronger Aircraft GHG Rule If Global Talks Slip

EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy is warning that the agency could move forward with a more stringent domestic standard regulating aircraft greenhouse gas emissions if negotiations to craft a global market-based measure (MBM) slip or do not produce a “sufficient” product, suggesting the agency is not entirely satisfied with proposed first-time international GHG limits for new and in-production aircraft.
