Loose Change: De Blasio defends climate suit against five oil majors

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) is defending his decision to launch a lawsuit against five major oil companies for their contribution to climate change damages and to push the city to divest billions from fossil fuels, arguing that “New Yorkers have a loud voice and deep pockets, and we intend to use them.” The city's suit against ExxonMobil, BP, ConocoPhillips, Shell and Chevron joins similar litigation filed by several California municipalities, including San Francisco, Oakland and Santa Cruz...
